A Bit of History of Cable Beach, Bahamas…

Cable Beach is located in Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas which is in New Providence Island. The island is home to 80% of the Bahamian population. The population experienced much of the early growth 200 years ago with the arrival of American loyalists and enslaved Africans. It was them that brought civilization to the Bahamas. With them came several large plantations worked by the slaves until England abolished slavery in 1807.  It was to the Bahamas that the British navy brought the slaves they captured on slave ships on the way to America. They quickly outgrew the rest of the population.

Pirates made the Islands of the Bahamas their base of operations. With its 29 islands, 661 cays and thousands of small islets there were plenty of places for them to hide and bury their booty. Cable Beach Bahamas with the protection of Sandals private island and hidden coral formations was undoubtedly a favorite of many buccaneers.

The name of Cable Beach originated when the international cable was laid for international  telephone and telegraph communications. It has become a favorite for locals and foreigners alike.
